Hey Everyone! Another week over, how was yours? Come visit me over at it’s days like these.

Personal Training..is the juice worth the squeeze?

I’ve dabbled with Personal Training a few times in my life. Prior to my wedding I saw a female trainer who was decent but frustrated me with her constant self talk. I recently did group training but I found I work out more efficiently when I’m on my own, too many distractions! So I bit the bullet a few weeks back and booked myself in at the gym for some sessions. It also helped that I had a 50% off voucher!! My current trainer is very good. I deliberately chose a male this time and it was the right decision.  The sessions  are killer. I feel completely done afterwards and know that I’ve burned calories. He shows me how to use machines I’ve always shyed away from and sometimes I feel muscles working I didn’t know existed! My weekly session adds an element to my training that I can’t provide myself. It changes things up and keeps me motivated. It’s been third time lucky for me and I’m very glad I’ve finally found the right fit.

So, things to think about before making a commitment?

  • I think it’s important firstly to look at whether you can commit, both financially and mentally to a trainer. Their price varies depending on their experience and it’s wise to thoroughly go through costings with the trainer prior to signing up.
  • What do I mean by mentally? Well, if you don’t connect with the trainer or hate going, there’s really no point in handing over the cash. You want someone who works your body and mind. It’s nice to have a friendly chat over the weights, but not so much that you become their counsellor or vice versa. Personal Training sessions ain’t the hairdresser!
  • In terms of the actual exercises,  if you don’t love ‘gym’ style exercise then I wouldn’t bother getting a trainer. Most sessions involve a mixture of strength and cardio, so if team sports are more your thing, then you’re probably wasting both your money and time.
  • It’s important to have someone with enough experience and training that they will confidently lead you through a wide variety of machines and exercises. Someone with a wide training repertoire is the way to go.
  • Take the time to research your options. Perhaps you want to go through an actual personal training company rather than your gym. Ask around about trainers and don’t be afraid to switch if you’re not getting what you want. It’s your money and more importantly your body, so a perfect fit is well, perfect!

Happy Training!

See you next week!

Preserving Memories

I love to craft things and create, but the underlying motivation and desire with everything I do is to preserve memories…

Memories are so important, because the particular memory you have of something belongs solely to you. Other people don’t experience the same day, person or event the way you do, which makes each and every memory you have unique.
They beauty of memories is that we can share them with people, and I believe it to be one of my life purposes to preserve and share not only my own, but the memories of my family.

I wanted to show you three simple ways that I preserve memories.

1. Framing Notes

This is one that I just discovered last night and quickly got to work adding to my memory wall. What a sweet idea to take a note or drawing and framing it to put on your wall.

Here I took a note my brother had written me for my birthday, and put it in a photo frame.

2. Collaging photos

Often we frame photos in the regular way we have to limit the number we can choose from. This is never fun, but collaging them is! With digital prints we always have our original copies on our computers, and backed up on our external hard drives, so we have lots of freedom when it comes to cutting up those physical images!

Here I used a bunch of photos people took of themselves at our wedding and added them to the picture frames.

3. Scanart

The reason I love scanart is because you can display things that might otherwise have been harder to display. For example, you might be able to scan your wedding flowers to go with photos, or your veil.
You might like to scan your child’s favourite outfit as a background to some favourite photos of them wearing it. Maybe socks, or a headband…

It might be that you just want to add a bit do dimension. I love putting scrapbooking papers, fabrics and buttons in with quotes and photos to add interest.

August Twenty-Nine, Two Thousand + Ten

Another week has managed to fly by and I must admit after my dark + twisty mood {a la greys} the last few weeks, I am quite happy to say it has most certainly lifted again. Which is a huge relief.

Recap:

Jade had a headache this week and missed the finance post.
Deb questioned childcare and had a tonne of comments which gave some excellent insights.
I gave you a number of different inspiring + bright quote posters and wall decals for your home.
Leila has been sick the past little while and missed the health&fitness post.
I told you that YOU are YOU and shared a gorgeous image to inspire YOU all.
Mez had a night out on Saturday and watched Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist to review just for YOU!

Onto happy moments!

one. Hearing the boyfriend tell me he loves me.
two. Feeling pretty.
three. Going through patterning with the children at school and one of them creating a four pattern and telling me! {We were doing 2 and 3 patterns!}
four. Feeling a part of the teaching team {even though I am just a student!}
five. Wearing my gold love heart necklace that I won from … rinniez … and having all the children ooh and ahh over it’s prettiness!

What are YOUR five happy moments?

Oh and Brittonie shared her’s too! Remember if you do a post about it, please let me know in the comments I love to see and read them!
