Every girl should have red shoes

in Life Balance

Once upon a time there was a young lady who would wear outrageous shoes, colour co-ordinated with the rest of her outfit. She did not follow trends, rather, created her own unique style suited to her bright personality….

Somewhere along the road, this young lady forgot a part of herself. She grew up, got married and had children. The outrageous shoes were swapped for trainers and comfortable walkers, the unique stylish outfits became confined to the back of the wardrobe, only to be looked at longingly and pushed aside for comfortable toddler wrangling wear….

hi and welcome back to Life Balance!

In my previous post I explored some ideas that I use to create a life balance that works for me – choice, time management and essence. In this weeks post, we will explore the idea of Essence a little more, using my recent purchase of red shoes.

In case you haven’t guessed it, the young lady I am talking about in this post is me. However, you’ll be pleased to know that this year I have rediscovered my Essence and with the encouragement of my good friend Gill, have purchased some FABULOUS RED SHOES!

The decision to purchase the shoes did not come lightly.  Over the years, I have managed to put everyone’s needs ahead of my own, a symptom typical of many mothers, carers and nurturers. However, the moment I put those shoes on in the store, I became transformed…the tingling started at my feet and traveled up through my legs, my torso and through to my brain – turning off the pause button on the way.

I clicked my heels and felt…HOME…the real ESSENCE of Nicola was back.

And so, the young lady matured and found herself again in a pair of outrageous red shoes, a renewed passion for vintage wear and a new attitude to life…

Be Happy

I have a total thing about red shoes… they seemed so ‘extravagant’ because they are red, they are not going to go with my every day boring clothes, so I should buy a brown pair, that would be much more practical… but ooooh red….
My shoes are a tad more practical and comfortable that yours but they are red… and for me that is a BIG deal!

Fab post!
