Preserving Memories

I love to craft things and create, but the underlying motivation and desire with everything I do is to preserve memories…

Memories are so important, because the particular memory you have of something belongs solely to you. Other people don’t experience the same day, person or event the way you do, which makes each and every memory you have unique.
They beauty of memories is that we can share them with people, and I believe it to be one of my life purposes to preserve and share not only my own, but the memories of my family.

I wanted to show you three simple ways that I preserve memories.

1. Framing Notes

This is one that I just discovered last night and quickly got to work adding to my memory wall. What a sweet idea to take a note or drawing and framing it to put on your wall.

Here I took a note my brother had written me for my birthday, and put it in a photo frame.

2. Collaging photos

Often we frame photos in the regular way we have to limit the number we can choose from. This is never fun, but collaging them is! With digital prints we always have our original copies on our computers, and backed up on our external hard drives, so we have lots of freedom when it comes to cutting up those physical images!

Here I used a bunch of photos people took of themselves at our wedding and added them to the picture frames.

3. Scanart

The reason I love scanart is because you can display things that might otherwise have been harder to display. For example, you might be able to scan your wedding flowers to go with photos, or your veil.
You might like to scan your child’s favourite outfit as a background to some favourite photos of them wearing it. Maybe socks, or a headband…

It might be that you just want to add a bit do dimension. I love putting scrapbooking papers, fabrics and buttons in with quotes and photos to add interest.
