Real Life: The Boyfriend and I

in Real Life

i love him.

but after being together for two years. and a month.

he has never scared me so much.

sunday night.

we watched mullholland drive. stupid movie if you ask me.

anywho. that finished at 11.40pm.

i got up. went to the bathroom. and then back to bed. i left the back light on as boyfriend was still making his way back from the kitchen.

he came in and switched the light off. then went to the toilet.

i saw this blue light. it flickered then went off. i heard a humming sound.

a brief. oww.

then.

the hallway light turned on. and my boyfriend was yelling. baby. baby. something is wrong.

he begged. and pleaded with me. asking me to help him.

he was standing their in his undies. looking as pale as anything.

his heart looked like it was going to beat out of his chest.

i put my hand on his heart. and told him to breathe. i needed him to breathe and breathe slowly and calmly.

it didnt work. he was in too much of a panic.

he screamed for his father. who was annoyed to be awoken. i explained what had happened. and then the panic set in.

i called the ambulance. i went through everything with him.

is he detached from the power. yes.

is he breathing. yes.

is he conscious. yes.

where is he now. standing by the front door.

he told me to tell him the ambulance will be there soon. and to just relax.

about ten minutes passed.

ten long minutes. of me sitting on the table. giving words of support. that everything will be fine.

he was complaining that he was numb.

he couldnt feel us touching him. he could. but not how it should feel.

i offered to get a knife. jokingly. to show him he can feel. he declined. his rationale was obviously still there.

the ambulance came. and checked him out.

they said he must not have been shocked very bad. otherwise there would be an entry and exit point burnt on his hand/fingertip. and that he would have gone into a convulsion.

they said he was fine.

the boyfriend calmed down a bit. but the numbness worried him.

we stayed up for another two more hours.

i was just there. making sure he was okay.

he scared me half to death.

his dad made the comment that he would do anything {i.e. restart his heart} if needed be. and i said i would have done that anyway. i am first aid trained. i know cpr.

but in that instant of going and checking on him.

i went to hit the switch.

why? i have no idea. none. i didnt. because he told me not to.

so. at the moment the light in the bathroom is left on. no one is allowed to touch it.

the electricity man came yesterday. and said it would have had to have gotten stuck halfway for it to happen. and that if the heat lights were on it would have been higher volts. the man also said his hands would have had to have been wet/damp. which they were.

i have never seen such a blue light before. i actually thought that he was trying to scare me. but once i heard the panic in his voice. well. i was scared for a different reason.

id hate for anything to happen to him. love him too much.

i may get in severe trouble for posting this. but hopefully he will understand.

Wow. I’m glad everything was ok!

The light in our garage is dodgy. It get’s stuck half way, and I tell the man to get it fixed. but I worry too much and I’m a whinger, so nothing ever get’s done about it! :(

I actually JUST reminded him again then. He screwed up his face and said “What do you mean”…So I said “It’s ok, we’ll just wait until someone get’s electrocuted!” pftt..

You can tell I’m not in a good mood today. ha ha. Sorry for the rant!
It’s just I hear stories like this and can’t fathom how he is so oblivious to it all. All the time!
